Frequently asked questions
Do I need a notary for every power of attorney?
Not every power of attorney needs to be notarised or certified. In many cases, however, notarisation is advisable in order to ensure legal certainty and clear verifiability.
What is the difference between certification and notarisation?
In the case of certification, the notary usually confirms the authenticity of a signature or copy. In the case of public notarisation, the notary records the content of a legal transaction in a deed and also verifies the legal requirements.
What documents do I need to bring with me for signature certification?
As a rule, you will need a valid ID (passport or identity card) and the original document to be signed. Additional documents will be agreed in advance depending on the circumstances.
How long does notarisation take?
If all documents are complete and an appointment has been made, a simple notarisation can usually be completed within a few minutes.
Why do I need an apostille?
An apostille is a form of certification that confirms a document is legally valid in a specific country. It is therefore required to have documents internationally recognized.
Do you also offer consultations in English?
Yes, consultations can be conducted in german and english. This is particularly helpful for international clients.
Can I visit the office without an appointment?
To ensure thorough preparation and short waiting times, we recommend making an appointment in advance. In urgent cases, we will endeavour to find a solution at short notice.
How can I find out the estimated costs of my case?
Our fees are based on the fee guidelines of the Liechtenstein Chamber of Notaries. Upon request, we will provide you with an estimate of the expected costs in advance.
Do you also provide certified translations?
We assist you with the certification of translations and, if necessary, organise the required apostille or additional certification for use abroad.
Can I also submit documents electronically?
Many documents can be sent in advance by e-mail so that they can be checked and prepared. For the actual certification or notarisation, original documents must be presented and you will usually need to appear in person.
